natural-stone-ring-ceiling-light
Ceiling Light for Hallway, Natural Stone Ring Inlay, Flush Mount

Most ceiling fittings solve the light and create a second problem underneath: something hanging where you needed the space. This one does not hang. It stays up at the ceiling, a plain white circle with a piece of natural stone at the middle of it, and below it nothing at all. Where the ceiling is low, that is the whole argument.

Switched off it is still worth the ceiling. The white face reads almost as part of the plaster, and the stone at the centre is the only thing your eye stops on. That stone was formed in the ground over geological time, through changes nobody directed and nobody can repeat: a strange thing to have above your head, and a good one.

The light source is built into the ring, so there is no bulb in sight.

12 cm deep, and that is the whole fixture — close-mounted for a room where the ceiling is low

Stone at the centre — yellow travertine, Pandora Stone or Bulgari Purple set against the same white diffuser

Three diameters, one depth — 33 cm, 43 cm or 53 cm, all of them 12 cm deep

Hardwired to a wall switch — it wires in at the ceiling and takes a common push switch, which is not included

Warm light, and only warm light

The diffuser casts a gentle, even glow rather than a bright point, so the shadows in a room stay soft under it. One colour temperature is sold here and it is a warm one; the figure sits in the specifications.
