ornate-brass-pendant-light-frosted-glass-panes
Ornate Brass Pendant Light, Frosted White Glass Panes, 23 cm

A brass frame carries ornate Empire-style detailing, and panes of frosted white glass sit between the metal. The brass is hand-finished to an aged patina, so it reads as old metal rather than a bright new shine. Lit, the glass softens the bulb into an even glow. Unlit, the brass and its ornament are what you see, and they hold the eye on their own.

It is a compact piece, 23 cm (9.1″) across and 30 cm (11.8″) tall, and it weighs about 3 kg (6.6 lb). That is small enough for a hallway or an entry, yet the ornament gives it more presence than the size suggests. There is one size and one finish, so the only question is where it hangs.

It is hardwired to the ceiling and connects to a wall light switch.

Brass framework with ornate Empire-style detailing

Hand-finished brass with an aged patina

Glass panes diffuse light into a soft, ambient glow

Fits sloped ceilings up to 30° as well as flat ones

Frosted glass hides the bulb

Every pane is frosted white, so you see a soft glow rather than a filament or a hot spot. The fitting takes an E12 bulb, either LED or Edison, so you set the character of the light yourself. Choose a modern LED for even output, or a filament-style Edison bulb for a more period look.

Hand finishing means small differences

The brass is finished by hand to its aged patina, so the tone has depth that a flat coating does not. The same hand work means two fittings will not be identical. If you plan several in a row, expect slight variation in the metal from one to the next, which is part of the character.

Specifications

Dimensions

Dia. 23 cm × H 30 cm (9.1″ × H 11.8″)

Material

Brass, glass

Light source

LED bulb or Edison bulb

Bulb base

E12

Voltage

AC 110–240 V

Control

Compatible with common wall switches (not included); connect it to an external wall light switch for a controlled electricity supply

Wiring

Hardwired

Mounting

Ceiling

Sloped ceiling

Compatible, adaptable below 30°

Environment

Indoor

IP rating

IP 20, damp-rated; generally suitable for indoor use where it will not be exposed to moisture

Body finish

Brass

Shade finish

Frosted white

Frequently asked questions

What are the dimensions of this pendant lamp?
The lamp is 23 cm × 30 cm (9.1″ in diameter and 11.8″ in height).
