ringed-alabaster-cone-wall-sconce
Ringed Alabaster Cone Wall Light, 55 cm, Wall Sconce

A straight rod does most of the work here. It rises from the wall plate, broken partway up by a small decorative oval ring, like a joint in an otherwise plain line. At the top, the rod turns at a right angle into a tapered alabaster cone. It catches the light and turns it into a warm, honeyed glow, rather than a hard, direct beam. Unlit, the pale stone cone and the plain metal rod below it read as two distinct materials working together.

Three finishes are offered for the rod and wall plate: brushed brass, brushed nickel or matte black. Each changes the tone of the metal against the pale stone cone above it. Brass warms the whole piece, nickel cools it, and matte black lets the alabaster carry most of the visual interest on its own. At 55 cm (21.7″) tall, it is a genuinely vertical piece on a wall.

Light passes through the alabaster cone itself, turning it into the glow rather than the bulb behind it.

A slender rod rises from the wall plate at a right angle

A decorative oval ring accents the rod's midpoint

A tapered alabaster cone shade diffuses a honeyed glow

Available in brushed brass, brushed nickel or matte black

The stone glow is the point

Because the alabaster cone diffuses the light, the bulb itself stays hidden inside the shade. It takes an E12 or E14 base. No bulb is included, so check that size in the specifications before buying one. Once it is in, the honeyed glow through the stone is what you actually see, not the bulb itself.

Alabaster varies, piece to piece

The cone shade is alabaster, a natural stone, not a cast or moulded material. Its veining and exact tone will differ from one fixture to the next, even within the same order. That variation is part of what real stone looks like, not an inconsistency to worry about. If you hang two together, expect them to sit together well without being identical.

Available finishes

Brushed Brass

Brushed Nickel

Matte Black

Specifications

Dimensions

W 16.5 cm × H 55.1 cm (W 6.5″ × H 21.7″)

Product type

Wall Sconce

Material

brass, Alabaster

Finish options

Brushed Brass, Brushed Nickel, Matte Black

Overall dimensions

W 16.5 cm × P 19 cm × H 55 cm (W 6.5″ × P 7.5″ × H 21.7″)

Bulb socket

E12 or E14

Light source

1 × E12/E14 (bulb not included)

Mounting

Wall Mounted

Environment

Indoor

Three finishes, E12/E14 socket

Dimensions, Width

W · 16.5 cm (6.5″)

Dimensions, Wall Projection

P · 19 cm (7.5″)

Dimensions, Height

H · 55 cm (21.7″)

Finishes

Brushed Brass, Brushed Nickel, Matte Black

Frequently asked questions

How big is it?
W 16.5 × H 55 × P 19 cm (W 6.5 × H 21.7 × P 7.5″).
