Barely 5 cm (2″) deep, this light sits flat against the ceiling rather than hanging below it — a shallow brass-banded body with a full face of natural alabaster. Switched on, the whole face lights: the stone diffuses the LED behind it into an even, cloud-veined wash with no bulb in sight and no hard point to look up into. It comes in two outlines on the same shallow body, round or square, and in three widths from 30 to 50 cm (11.8 to 19.7″) — enough range to work as a single centre light in a hallway or repeated in a run down a corridor or across a kitchen ceiling.

What makes it work

  • Full alabaster face — real stone rather than printed acrylic, so the light carries the natural veining through with it and every piece is subtly its own.
  • Slim brass band — the only metal you see is a warm edge around the rim, which keeps the fitting quiet against a plain ceiling.
  • 5 cm (2″) body — shallow enough for low ceilings, and it mounts onto the surface of the ceiling with no cut-out to make.

Round or square

The two versions in the size list are the same fitting in two outlines: Model A is round, Model B is square. Both come in the same three widths, at the same depth and the same price, so the choice is only about the ceiling you are fitting it to. A round face softens a hallway or a bedroom; a square face lines up with tiles, joinery and rectangular rooms.

Choosing warm or cool light

Each unit is built with one fixed LED colour, chosen when you order. Warm light brings out the honey tones in the stone and the brass rim, which suits living rooms and hallways. Cool light keeps the alabaster nearer true white and reads cleaner over a kitchen or a work surface. The LED is not built for a standard wall dimmer, so choose the colour that fits the room and keep the switch simple.

Installation

This is a hardwired fitting that mounts to the surface of the ceiling and wires into a standard ceiling box — nothing is recessed, so there is no hole to cut and no ceiling void to measure. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.

Does it need a hole cut in the ceiling?
No. It mounts onto the surface of the ceiling and connects to a standard ceiling box — the 5 cm (2″) body sits below the ceiling line.

What is the difference between Model A and Model B?
Shape only. Model A is round and Model B is square. Both share the same 5 cm (2″) depth, the same three widths and the same price.

Will the alabaster match the photographs?
Not exactly. It is a natural stone, so the veining and tone vary from piece to piece and yours will carry its own pattern.

Can I fit it in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so keep it away from steam and splashes.
