Clear glass, cut with soft facets, wraps a core of grey-veined white alabaster — and the stone is what you actually see. Unlit, it reads as a pale marbled column held inside glass. Lit, the stone glows from within while the open base drops a clean pool of light onto the counter or table below, so one fitting gives you atmosphere and a working light. Two profiles: a gem-cut barrel 25 cm (9.8″) across and 20 cm (7.9″) tall, or a narrower cylinder 20 cm (7.9″) across standing 33 cm (13″). Both hang on a 150 cm (59″) cable.

What makes it work

  • Alabaster core inside a glass shell — the stone carries the light and softens it, so what you see is a lit surface rather than a bare bulb.
  • Open base — light falls straight down as well as through the stone, which is what makes it usable over an island or a worktop and not only a mood piece.
  • 150 cm (59″) of cable — cut to length as it goes up, so the same pendant suits a low drop over a table or a long one down a stairwell.

Sold as a single pendant

Several of the photographs show three, five or nine of these hung together, because that is how they look best over a long island or in a stairwell. What arrives is one pendant, with its own cable and canopy. Order as many as your run needs, and stagger the drops when you fit them.

Alabaster is a natural stone

Every core is cut from a different block, so the veining and the depth of grey on yours will not match the photographs exactly. That is the material doing what stone does — and it is why two of these hung side by side never look mass-produced.

Installation

This is a hardwired ceiling fitting, and the cable is trimmed to the drop you want as it goes up. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.

Frequently asked questions

Which of the two sizes should I choose?
The 25 cm (9.8″) barrel reads as one solid object and holds its own as a single drop over a table. The 33 cm (13″) cylinder is narrower and taller, which is what you want in a row over an island, or in a stairwell where the pendant is seen from the side as well as from below.

Does it come with a bulb?
No. It takes one small-screw E12 or E14 bulb, bought separately, so the warmth and the output are your choice.

Can the cable be shortened?
Yes. The 150 cm (59″) cable is cut to length when the pendant is fitted, so you can hang it low over a table or tight to the ceiling.

Can it go in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which carries no moisture protection at all, so keep it to dry indoor rooms.
