Shibui is the Japanese idea of beauty that never asks for attention — quiet, understated, easy to live with. This pendant carries that spirit: one shade, one soft crescent of light beneath it. Hang it over a table or island and the room feels calmer, not brighter.

One crescent cut into the underside

  • Crescent opening — the underside opens as a curved sliver, not a full circle, so the light leaves in one arc.
  • Two forms — the Cloud closes to a shallow, near-flat crescent; the Cone opens into a deeper, upswept saddle.
  • Grained matte shell — a fine granular texture runs over the whole surface, with no gloss to catch light.
  • Light that pools — the arc drops a soft warm pool onto the worktop below, not a hard beam.

A grained shell with a smooth inner face

Each shade is made by hand by a single artisan, over more than eight hours. The outer shell stays matte and finely granular, closer to plaster than to a moulded shell. Look up into the opening and the inner face is smooth, with none of the outside grain.

Fit and placement

It replaces an existing pendant, mounting on the round ceiling base supplied. Fitting one takes under fifteen minutes. Have an electrician make the connection at the ceiling if that isn't work you would do yourself.
