A hallway console is the hardest surface in the house to light. There is rarely a socket behind it, and a trailing cable across a hall is worse than no lamp at all.
This one has no cable in use. A metal trumpet stem flares into a flat disc that throws light straight down onto the surface, over a low stepped base with a non-slip underside. Four touch steps take it from a level that just marks the console after dark up to enough to read a letter by. On the lowest setting it runs for days rather than hours, so it can simply live there and be topped up now and again by USB-C.

Warm rather than white
The LED runs at a low colour temperature, so the pool on a wooden console reads as lamplight rather than as a screen. That is what stops a cordless lamp looking like a gadget.
