Glass that swells above and below the ring

The globe is a flattened dome, not a true sphere, and the ring catches it at its widest curve. Glass swells above the metal and below it, so the frame reads as a line drawn round the light rather than a holder. The legs are the same slim rod as the ring: dead straight, untapered, stopping just clear of the glass.
