Some lamps only add light. This one gives a room a centre. A fabric drum caps a sculpted block, and the light comes through it diffused rather than aimed. It reads as an object first, a lamp second.

A raised grain that runs over flat, faceted planes

  • Grain relief — close-set striations sweep across the base in raised lines that catch a low, sidelong light.
  • Faceted form — broad flat faces meet along clean diagonal edges, so each plane takes the light at its own angle.
  • Woven drum shade — a plain fabric drum with a visible weave, seated square on the base with no tilt.

A short neck sets the shade close over the base

There is no tall stem here. The shade seats almost directly on the peak of the base, which keeps the whole lamp low and settled. On a bedside table it pays off twice. Nothing rises into your eyeline, and from beside it you see the glow, not the bulb.

Fit and placement

This is a plug-in table lamp, so there is nothing to hardwire. Set it on a solid, level surface — the base has a broad flat foot and wants all of it supported. The cord and switch are listed in the specifications.

What kind of light does it give?
Soft and diffused through the fabric, with more of it spilling from the open top and bottom of the drum. It suits evening light rather than close task work.

Can it stand close to a wall?
Leave a little room behind it. The shade is wider than the base at every point, so it needs more clearance than the footprint suggests.

Does it look the same from every angle?
No. The base is asymmetric — one side rises in a long curve, another drops to a straight edge — so turning it gives you a different profile.
