Alabaster is never twice the same. Every shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining that lifts when the light comes on belongs to that piece alone. On the Jewel, a cylindrical alabaster shade sits on a solid metal disc inside a slim arched stirrup finished in nickel-sand brass — a soft, warm grey that reads closer to weathered metal than to polished hardware. It hangs from a black fabric cord on a round canopy, and at 20 cm (7.9″) across and 30 cm (11.8″) tall it is sized for a kitchen island, a bedside, or a pair spaced along a dining table.

What makes it work

  • Natural alabaster shade — real stone, cut thin enough to pass light, so the grain only shows itself once the bulb is on.
  • Nickel-sand brass stirrup — a solid arch and base disc hold the stone steady and give the fixture its weight in the hand.
  • One standard E26/E27 socket — takes an ordinary screw-base bulb, so warmth and brightness stay your call.

Good to know

Because alabaster is a natural stone, the pattern and the way light passes through your shade will differ a little from the photographs — that is the material, not a flaw. The fixture is hardwired and hangs on 150 cm (59″) of black fabric cord. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.
