Lighting a mirror usually means two fittings, two plates, two chances to get the spacing wrong. This wall light curves up and over on each side instead, carrying a dome at either end. It reads as one line drawn across the wall, not a pair of lamps bolted up beside each other.

One rod, crossing the face of a round wall plate

  • Round wall plate — a shallow disc with a fine grain running out from its centre, flat against the wall.
  • Ball at the midpoint — a small ball rests on the rod at the centre of the plate, the one ornament on a plain frame.
  • Swan-neck curves — on each side the rod sweeps up and out, arches over, then drops to the collar.
  • Plain cylindrical collars — a straight metal collar at the foot of each drop carries the dome.

A fine speckle across the surface of each dome

Each dome carries a fine, even speckle rather than flat paint, a matte texture you only read from close range. The metal is where the choice happens: plate, rod and collars all take the same finish together. The domes stay the same whichever you pick.

Fit and placement

Centre the it above a mirror, or mount it alone over a mantelpiece, beside a gallery wall, or above a bedside chest. The arm reaches the same distance either side of the plate, so mark your centre line first and both shades land level.

Fixed. Both domes hang straight down from the ends of the arm, so each lights the surface directly beneath it.

How much of the fixture touches the wall?
Only the round plate at the centre. Both shades hang clear of the wall behind them, so nothing presses against tile or a mirror frame.

Is there any trim or banding on the shades?
None. Each dome ends in a plain, unbanded rim.
