Two shades that never touch

• A cup over a dome — a smaller shade sits on top, a wider dome hangs below, and the two are never the same colour.
• A glowing middle — the pale plate between them is a diffuser, not metal, and it lights up with the fixture.
• A deliberate overhang — that plate is wider than both shades and stands proud all round, reading as a ledge rather than a seam.
• Open underneath — the dome has no cover across its base, so the light falls straight down onto whatever sits below.

Flat colour, no shine anywhere on it

Nothing on the surface catches a highlight. Each half reads as one clean block of colour rather than a shiny curve, lit or unlit. The shades are all knocked back rather than bright, which is why two of them can sit together without shouting.

Fit and placement

Hang it at a height where you see the fixture side on, since that is the view that shows both colours. Have an electrician confirm the ceiling point before it goes up.
