A paper column that seems to breathe with the light behind it. Each pleat catches the glow and softens it, closer to lantern-light than lamplight. It reads as sculpture as much as lamp — quiet in a bedroom, striking in a living room corner.

A shade pleated into a stack of waisted tiers

  • Waisted profile — the paper pulls inward at every seam, giving the column a continuous ripple from crown to base.
  • Open crown — the top stays open on a slim wire ring, showing the frame and fitting rather than hiding them.
  • Tripod stand — three slender legs, each ending in a small ball foot, lift the shade clear of the floor.
  • Knotted ties — a small bow ties the shade to the top of each leg, left in plain sight.

Rice paper bonded by hand

Bonding by hand leaves its own marks. You may find a faint line of glue at an edge, or a crease that takes the light differently from its neighbour. Neither is a fault. Both are why no two shades read exactly alike.
