A folded paper form that reads more like sculpture than a lamp. Three slender black legs lift the shade clear of the floor, so it seems to hover. Switch it on and the light comes through soft and warm, without the glare of a bare bulb.

A peaked crown folded over a tapering body

  • Two-tier fold — a hip-roof crown meets a lower body that narrows slightly towards the floor.
  • Black shapes across the facets — a large circle and smaller ovals sit on several panels, so the pattern shifts as you walk around it.
  • Open tripod stand — three thin wire legs splay from the shade's underside and finish on small ball feet.
  • Switch on the cord — the inline on/off switch is a round disc that lies flat on the floor at the base.

Soft, crumpled rice paper over a radial frame

The shade is rice paper, and the surface stays soft rather than crisp. Creases run irregularly across each facet and read as gentle folds, not sharp edges. Collapse the shade flat and the structure shows itself: fine pale struts radiating from a central hub.

Fit and placement

This is a plug-in floor lamp, not a hardwired fixture, so no electrician is needed. The three wire feet stand on parquet, tile, concrete or a rug. Set it in a corner, beside a sofa or at a bedside, and run the cord to a socket.

Why is there a faint line of glue along one seam?
The paper is bonded to its frame by hand with glue, so a light trace along an edge is normal.

Does the whole shade glow at the same brightness?
No. The bulb sits at the centre, so the paper reads brightest there and the corners fall away softer.

Does the crown lift off the lower body?
No. Both tiers are folded from a single shade and meet at one horizontal rib.
