You don't want another lamp — you want a room that changes when it's on. This pendant hangs from a single black cord under a walnut neck. Fine grey botanicals are drawn across its cream shade. It earns its place in daylight, before you ever switch it on.

A walnut spindle above a folded cream shade

  • Walnut neck — a ball sits above a waisted, flared spindle, joining the cord to the shade.
  • Brass ferrule — a small brass-toned cone caps the neck where the black cord enters, the only metal above the shade.
  • Folded fabric — the shade is folded into narrow vertical facets, so its outline breaks into flat planes rather than one smooth curve.
  • Beaded hem — the lower edge is a true circle, finished with a fine beaded trim that catches the light.

Grey botanicals drawn across a cream ground

Fine line-work covers the shade — leaves, small florals, a few trailing sprigs. It is not spaced evenly: one side carries a dense cluster of blooms, and single leaves drift across the cream elsewhere. Switched on, the drawing softens into shadow-lines through the fabric. Switched off, it reads as quiet charcoal drawing on cream.

Fit and placement

The base of the shade is open, so the light drops straight down onto whatever sits below it. That suits a dining table, a bedside or a reading corner, where you want the pool of light in one place.
