You want one object over the table, not a ceiling full of hardware. This is a pleated mesh shade under a wide cap that turns the light back down. Off, it reads as sculpture. On, the mesh glows in fine even lines.

A wide cap over an egg-shaped shade

  • A shallow cone, not flat — the cap dips from a centre peak to a thin rim. It reaches well past the mesh on both sides.
  • One ring at the apex — the cord drops through a small ring set on top of the cap.
  • Pleats that meet the cap — the mesh gathers straight into the cap's underside, with nothing between them.
  • A dark collar at the base — the pleats close on a small ring at the bottom of the shade.

A folded sheet, not a smooth drum

The sheet is folded into pleats that swell at the waist and draw in at both ends. That fold is what carries the shape, and it is why the surface reads as ribs rather than a flat wall. The holes are what let the light out, so it arrives as texture rather than one hot pool on the table.

A ceiling plate, and a switch you supply

There is no plug on this one. A qualified electrician wires it in at the ceiling, and after that an ordinary wall switch runs it. Set the hanging height against the drop given in the specifications. Over a table, two or three at staggered heights work as well as one.

What holds the shade to the cap?
The pleats gather straight into the cap's underside. There is no separate collar or band at the top; the only collar is the small dark ring that closes the base.

Can I hang more than one?
Yes. Each unit hangs on its own cord and ceiling plate, so a group is simply several fixtures set at different heights.

What does the light look like on a table?
It comes through the mesh, so the pool below is soft and broken up rather than one bright circle. The cap turns the upward light back down.
