Most ceiling lights ask to be ignored. This one does not. The metal shade falls in soft, uneven folds, like cloth caught mid-drop, and a frosted glass globe glows at its centre. It gives you a reason to look up.

A folded metal shade with a wave along its hem

  • Folded like cloth — Every pleat runs from the collar down to the hem, where the edge ripples in soft, uneven waves.
  • A scalloped opening — At the front the hem dips and lifts again, leaving a curved window where the globe shows through.
  • Opal glass globe — The globe sits nested in the shade, its lower half clear of the folded edge.
  • Light caught in the folds — Lit, each fold takes the glow at a different angle, so the shade reads as bands of light and shadow.

Four finishes over the same folded shade

Vintage brass is the darkest, an aged tone that shifts from fold to fold. Brass is brighter and more evenly toned, and it does not mirror the room. Chrome does, picking up the ceiling above it and the light around it. Black stays flat and opaque, a dark shape against a pale ceiling. Only the finish changes.

Fit and placement

The fitting mounts tight to the ceiling on a round canopy, with no rod or chain. It takes only the shade's own height out of the room, which makes it workable under a low ceiling. The canopy is a plain, shallow drum, and it sits as squarely on planked timber as on plaster.
