Switch it on and the corner goes soft. The bulb reads as a warm core through the paper, not a glare. Set it on a console, a sideboard or the floor beside a chair. It finishes a room the way a lit window does.

A pleated shade on three splayed wire legs

  • Close horizontal pleats — the shade is folded into fine ribs, so it holds texture rather than reading flat.
  • Burnt-orange rings — a band of colour caps the shade top and bottom, the only colour on it.
  • A wrapped top bar — the black wire loop above the shade carries a pale wrapping across its top bar only.
  • Ball-footed tripod — three slim black legs end in small round feet, lifting the shade clear of the surface.

A shade that changes when lit

Unlit it is a pale textured volume, quiet in daylight. Lit, the middle of the shade burns brightest while the crown and the hem stay softer. That fall-off keeps it from flattening into a white ball.

Why is there a faint glue line along the shade's edge?
Each shade is bonded by hand with paper and glue. A light trace of adhesive along an edge is normal, not a fault.

Which size should I choose?
The smaller suits a bedside table or a narrow console. The larger holds a wide sideboard or the floor beside a chair.

Where does the cord leave the lamp?
It drops from the underside of the shade and runs between the legs. Set the lamp so the cord takes the short way to your socket.
