Light leaves this shade in soft vertical bands, so the glow shifts as you walk beneath it. A diffuser closes the base, so the bulb never sits bare above the table. Hang it low and the corner settles. It is the kind of fixture guests notice before they sit down.

A shade widest across its middle, drawn back in underneath

  • Overlapping panels — vertical panels lap over one another around the shade, swelling at the middle and curving back in below.
  • Translucent ribs — a fine rib runs down the edge of every panel and glows amber along each seam when the lamp is on.
  • Wood cap — a smooth conical cap sits on a slim brass collar where the cord meets the shade.
  • Recessed diffuser — a round, finely dimpled diffuser sits in a brass ring in the underside.

Brass at the top and bottom of the shade

Look close and the panels are not flat. Each carries a fine brushed grain running along its length. The rib at every edge is left translucent, so each join reads as a thin line of light. Brass shows at two points on the shade — a collar beneath the wood cap, a ring around the diffuser.

Fit and placement

A slim black cord drops from a low, round brass canopy at the ceiling. Set the drop at installation, up to the length given in the specifications. Have a qualified electrician make the ceiling connection. It then runs from the wall switch you already have.
