Deep vertical flutes turn this ceramic shade into a lantern that shapes light instead of casting it flat. Switch it on and the grooves throw soft vertical bands across the room. Leave it off and it reads as a quiet sculptural form. Hang one over a reading chair, or cluster several above a table.

A bud-shaped shade cut with vertical flutes from crown to rim

  • Pointed crown — the flutes converge to a single point where the cord enters the shade.
  • Widest at the middle — the body swells about halfway down, then draws in toward the base.
  • Scalloped mouth — the flutes run out to the rim, so the opening reads as soft points rather than a plain circle.
  • Cream inside — seen from below, the interior glaze is warmer in tone than the outside face.

One piece of ceramic, fluted end to end

Each shade is a single ceramic form, the channels running unbroken from the crown down to the rim. Unlit, it reads as a plain sculptural shape on its cord. Lit, the body warms to ivory and every rib stands out in relief. The multi-head versions gather onto one round ceiling plate, a separate cable for each shade.
