A desk object earns its space twice: once when you look at it, and once when it does something you would otherwise need another gadget for.

A single metal spiral rises from a weighted round base and holds an opal sphere in its curve. The spiral turns, so the sphere appears to drift inside it. Wave a hand above the top and the colour changes — no switch, no handset. The base is a wireless charging pad, so the phone that would have been face-down on the desk sits there instead, lit by the lamp above it.

  • Wave to change it: a sensor in the head reads a hand passing above it, so the colour changes without a touch
  • The spiral turns: the arm rotates slowly around the sphere, which is what makes a static object look alive on a desk
  • Charging pad in the base: set a phone or a watch on the foot and it charges — the output is in the specifications
  • Battery or mains: a built-in cell runs the light on its own; the charging pad needs the lead plugged in

Warm white or a colour

It holds a plain warm glow for reading, or steps through blues, greens, reds and ambers when the room is meant to feel like something else. Both are set by the same wave.

One thing to know before you buy

The rotation stops while the pad is charging a phone, and the internal battery powers the light only — it does not run wireless charging. Both need the lead in for that.

Small enough for a shelf

It is a little over twenty centimetres tall on a palm-sized foot, so it fits a desk corner, a bookshelf or a nightstand without dominating any of them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the sphere float?
No. It is held in the curve of the spiral, and the spiral turns around it. Nothing is magnetically suspended.

Can it charge my phone on battery power?
No. The internal cell runs the light. Wireless charging needs the lead plugged in, and the rotation pauses while it charges.

How do I change the colour?
Pass your hand above the top of the lamp. There is no switch to press and no remote to lose.
