A pendant that reads as a sculpture before it reads as a light. The paper column swells and draws in again down its whole length, so the silhouette shifts as you cross the room. Up close the surface is creased all over, never flat. The kind of piece a room gets built around.

A crushed-paper column that swells and narrows down its length

  • Crushed paper over fine ribs — the surface is creased across every facet, with the frame's horizontal ribs reading through it.
  • Wave-form silhouette — the shade swells and narrows in a steady rhythm instead of running as a straight cylinder.
  • Faceted cap top and bottom — both ends close in a flat, squared-off cap rather than staying open.
  • Light gathers at the core — lit, the deepest amber sits where the bulb is, and the paper pales towards each cap.

Paper shaped over a metal frame

The shade is paper stretched over a metal frame, whose ribs read through the surface as fine horizontal lines. It is handcrafted, so no two planes catch the light the same way. One vertical seam runs the height of the column where two facets meet — its only straight line.

Fit and placement

A qualified electrician makes the ceiling connection. Give the column room to be read top to bottom — a stairwell, a double-height living room, a tall window. Set the cable to the drop you want before it goes up.
