Travertine Pendant Light for Kitchen Island, Slim, 40 cm

Details
Most pendants get their character from a shade. This one has almost no shade at all.
It is a slender column of natural travertine, forty centimetres of stone hung from a slim aluminium fitting, throwing its light straight down from the base. Travertine is a stone full of open pores, so the surface has visible texture at close range and reads as solid, quiet mass from across a room. Because the beam is narrow it belongs where light needs to land somewhere specific — over an island, beside a bed, above a console — rather than lighting a room in general.
A slim column of natural travertine on an aluminium fitting
- Real stone, open pores: travertine carries its own pitted texture — no two columns take light the same way
- Light straight down: a narrow beam from the base, so it puts a defined pool on a worktop rather than a wash on a room
- Vertical, not wide: the tall thin proportion is what lets three hang over an island without crowding each other
- Metal against stone: a brushed aluminium collar and cord, so the stone reads as the whole of the fitting
Made for a run
One is a full stop. Three spaced along an island is what this shape is for — the vertical proportion keeps them from competing, and the narrow beams overlap into an even line of light on the worktop.
Every column differs
Travertine is cut where the block allows. The pore pattern on the piece you receive will be its own, which is the reason to hang stone rather than a stone-effect finish.
Quiet in a busy room
Against tile, brass taps and open shelving, a pendant with no pattern and no gloss is what keeps a kitchen from looking crowded overhead.

Frequently asked questions
Will mine look like the photograph?
The form will. The pores will not — travertine is natural stone and each column is cut with its own texture.
How many over an island?
Three is the usual answer at standard island length. The narrow beam means they need to overlap to give an even line.
Does it light a whole room?
No. The beam is narrow and downward — pair it with something ambient if the room has no other light.
