• Round, square, round — Top and bottom are discs, the middle plate is a square with softened corners, so the outline changes as you walk past.
• Open on every side — Nothing encloses the bulb. Light escapes through both gaps and washes the undersides of the upper two plates to a honey tone.
• A cut circle at the base — The lowest disc is opened at its centre, so light passes straight down through it as well.
• A drop you barely notice — The suspension cord is clear, so the stack reads as floating. Its length adjusts.

Dark edges, amber faces

Lit, the wood carries the colour. Edges stay dark walnut while the faces turn amber. Each plate is cut thin, so the fixture reads as three floating lines rather than a solid shade. The posts and the socket housing above the top plate are mirror-polished, which keeps the wood as the thing you look at.

Fit and placement

Hang it beside a bed, over a hallway console, or above one end of a kitchen worktop. Have an electrician make the joint if mains work is not something you take on. Setting the drop takes a minute at the cord.
