Some pendants light a room. This one softens it. The shade is a lantern of wound cotton, and it turns a bare bulb into a diffused wash rather than a glare. Hang it low over a table and the room stops feeling lit — it feels lived-in.

A faceted lantern in eight colourways

  • Vertical grain — the string lies top to bottom on each facet, so every panel reads as fine vertical lines.
  • Contrast edge lines — a thin line in black, navy, cream or red follows some seams, and on a few colourways runs down a panel instead.
  • Two body shapes — some colourways taper from a wide shoulder to a narrow base; others step down onto a separate drum foot.
  • Diffused, not directional — lit, the cotton spreads the light and the edge lines read as dark seams across the glow.

Wound by hand, so no two match

Each shade is wound from cotton string by hand over a faceted metal frame. Winding density, edge-line placement and colour depth shift from piece to piece. That is the character of a handmade shade, not a flaw.

Fit and placement

This pendant hardwires into the ceiling — have a qualified electrician fit it. The cord shortens on site. Over a table or island, hang the shade so its base sits 76–91 cm (30–36″) above the surface.

Can I have any colourway in any size?
No. Each colourway is wound in one size only, and the specifications table lists which size that is. Colour and size are a single choice at checkout.

Why does it have to be an LED bulb?
The shade is cotton, and cotton is heat-sensitive. An LED runs cool enough to sit inside it safely. Incandescent and halogen bulbs run far hotter, so avoid both.

How do I clean it?
Spot-clean only, with a dry cloth or one that is barely damp. Do not machine wash, soak or submerge it. Keep it out of damp rooms — cotton absorbs moisture.
