Three-Panel Wall Sconce for Stairwell, Backlit Alabaster, 45 cm

Three slabs of natural alabaster stand shoulder to shoulder behind a run of flat dark metal blades, each blade set at its own height so the piece steps forward and back rather than sitting flat against the paint. Unlit, the stone reads cool grey-white, crystalline and cloudy, outlined by a hairline of brass at every bezel. Switch it on and the alabaster warms from the inside — the veining lights up like frost while the metal stays dark around it. At 20 cm (7.9″) wide and 45 cm (17.7″) tall, it covers about as much wall as a large hardback, so a pair sits either side of a bed or a mirror without crowding either.

What makes it work

• Natural alabaster, not resin — every panel is cut from real stone, so the veining that lights up on your wall belongs to your fixture alone.
• Offset metal blades — the dark verticals overrun the stone top and bottom, giving the sconce depth and shadow instead of one flat face.
• Integrated LED — the light source sits behind the panels, so there is no bulb to buy, no socket to match, and nothing on show but the glow.

Alabaster is one of a kind

Because the panels are cut from natural stone, the pattern in the photographs is a guide rather than a promise. The glow is the constant: the same warm, even light through the same cool grey-white stone, carrying veining that belongs to your piece.

Where it belongs

Rated IP20, this sconce carries no protection against water at all, so it wants dry indoor walls — bedrooms, hallways, living rooms, a stairwell. Keep it out of bathrooms and covered porches.

Fitting it

It hardwires to a wall box behind the backplate and runs on AC 110-240 V, so it suits the mains standard in your market as supplied. Beside a bed, a sconce this size usually sits with its centre around 152 cm (60″) from the floor; flanking a mirror, line the two centres up with eye level.

Frequently asked questions

How much wall does it take?
20 cm (7.9″) across and 45 cm (17.7″) high — narrow enough to hang in pairs either side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway.

Do I need to buy a bulb?
No. The LED is built in behind the alabaster, so there is nothing to source and nothing to change later.

Will my panels look like the photographs?
Close, but never identical. Alabaster is a natural stone and each panel carries its own veining; the warm, even glow is what stays the same.

Can it go in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which carries no moisture protection at all, so keep it to dry indoor walls.
