Deep vertical flutes turn this ceramic shade into a lantern that shapes light instead of casting it flat. Switch it on and the grooves throw soft vertical bands across the room. Leave it off and it reads as a quiet sculptural form. Hang one over a reading chair, or cluster several above a table.

A bud-shaped shade cut with vertical flutes from crown to rim

  • Pointed crown — the flutes converge to a single point where the cord enters the shade.
  • Widest at the middle — the body swells about halfway down, then draws in toward the base.
  • Scalloped mouth — the flutes run out to the rim, so the opening reads as soft points rather than a plain circle.
  • Cream inside — seen from below, the interior glaze is warmer in tone than the outside face.

One piece of ceramic, fluted end to end

Each shade is a single ceramic form, the channels running unbroken from the crown down to the rim. Unlit, it reads as a plain sculptural shape on its cord. Lit, the body warms to ivory and every rib stands out in relief. The multi-head versions gather onto one round ceiling plate, a separate cable for each shade.

Fit and placement

Wiring is listed in the specifications, so plan on a qualified electrician for the connection. A single shade suits a bedside or a reading corner. The taller cascades suit a stairwell, a hallway or a double-height room.

Yes. The drop of each cable is adjustable, so the heads can be staggered down a stairwell or brought level over a table.

Does it light the table, or only itself?
Both. The base of every shade is open, so light falls straight down as well as glowing through the ceramic wall.

Why does the light look striped rather than solid?
The wall is fluted in deep channels, so light leaving the shade arrives in soft ribbons rather than one even wash.
