Tall Wall Lamp for Hallway, Slim Up and Down Sconce, Gold or Black

Hallways are almost always lit wrongly, because a ceiling fitting in a corridor flattens everything under it.

A tall vertical fitting does the opposite. This one is a slim column, a little over forty centimetres high and barely ten deep, mounted flat to the wall so the light runs up and down its own length. What you get is a stripe of brightness rather than a pool, which is what makes a narrow space read as taller than it is. Gold warms the wall it sits on; black holds a hard silhouette against pale plaster.

A slim vertical column mounted flat to the wall

• Vertical, not round: the elongated form carries light up the wall rather than pooling it at one height
• Shallow projection: barely ten centimetres deep, so a narrow corridor stays walkable
• Two finishes: gold to warm the wall around it, black to stand against it
• Two tones: warm white for living space, cool white where the fitting is doing wayfinding

Height instead of brightness

A stripe of light reads as architecture; a circle of light reads as a lamp. In a corridor, a stairwell or beside a tall doorway, the vertical version of the same wattage makes the space feel different.

Spacing decides the effect

Evenly spaced along a run they become a rhythm. Placed singly beside a door they mark the entrance. Both work — but a single one in the middle of a long wall does neither.

Gold needs warm light

The metallic finish only reads as gold under the 3000 K source. Cool white turns it toward brass-grey, which is worth knowing before choosing both.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit a narrow hallway?
Yes. It projects about ten centimetres — the depth is in the specifications.

How many along a corridor?
Evenly spaced is the point. A single fitting mid-wall reads as an accident.

Which finish against white walls?
Black for contrast, gold if you want the wall around it to warm up.
