Una Square Aluminum Outdoor Light, Solar Or Hardwired LED Lantern

A slim black square in die-cast aluminum, the Una lantern is built to sit on top of a gate pillar or flush against a garden wall without drawing attention to itself by day. Cap a pair of pillars and the entrance seems to gain a few centimetres of height; ring a pool deck with a run of them and the repeated squares echo the water's edge instead of scattering harsh light across it — a quiet, considered finishing touch rather than an afterthought.

Daylight charges the hidden solar cell in the solar version, and dusk releases a steady, candle-warm glow with nothing to plug in. Line a garden wall with a run of these and the rhythm repeats down the property, settling the whole plot into an agreeable hush that guests notice without quite knowing why.

Features

• Solid die-cast aluminum body — a matte black square shell built to sit naturally on posts, pillars, or walls alike.
• PMMA lens for a candle-warm glow — the acrylic shade diffuses the LED into a steady 3200K wash rather than a hard point of light.
• Two sizes, two power options — 22.9 × 22.9 × 10.2 cm (9 × 9 × 4″) (22.9 x 22.9 x 10.2 cm) or 27.9 × 27.9 × 12.7 cm (11 × 11 × 5″) (27.9 x 27.9 x 12.7 cm), each available hardwired or solar.

Solar or hardwired — which to choose

Pick the solar version if you'd rather avoid running a cable — it charges by day off the hidden cell and switches on by itself at dusk. Pick hardwired if you want a fixture that's never dependent on how much sun a spot gets and can be wired to a switch; it runs on 100–240V and, like any hardwired fixture, is best connected by an electrician, or wired in yourself if you're comfortable with basic house wiring.

Available sizes

Sets of 2, 4, 6, or 8 are also available at checkout for lining a wall or ringing a deck.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix hardwired and solar units in the same run?
Yes — both share the same footprint and glow, so you can run some hardwired near a power source and solar further down the wall or fence.

Does the solar cell need direct sun, or will partial shade work?
The hidden solar cell needs daylight exposure to fully charge; heavy shade all day will shorten how long it stays lit after dusk.

Is installation different for the solar version?
Yes — solar needs only mounting, with no wiring at all; hardwired connects to house current the way any hardwired fixture does.

How large a space does one fixture light?
Each Una lantern covers roughly 54 to 108 sq ft (5 to 10 sq m), depending on size — enough to define a run of wall or a ring of pillars without over-lighting the plot.
