Linear Globe Bar Pendant, Alabaster, Brass, 3 or 5 Lights

A slim brass tube runs the length of the table, hung level on two fine steel cables, with alabaster globes set above and below it and a cylinder of the same stone closing each end. Lit, every one of those pieces glows: the 100 cm (39.4″) bar puts five points of warm light along the table rather than three, and the brass reads as one unbroken line between them. Unlit it stays quiet — pale veined stone, warm metal, and very little else.

What makes it work

• A line, not a cluster — the globes are mounted on a rigid brass bar, so they hold their spacing over the table instead of drifting on separate cords.
• Lit stone at both ends — the bar finishes in an alabaster cylinder at each tip, and those light with the globes, so the glow runs the full length.
• Two lengths — 100 cm (39.4″) carrying three globes, or 120 cm (47.2″) carrying five, both hanging to 150 cm (59″) overall.

Sizing it to your table

A bar pendant wants to sit shorter than the table it lights. The 100 cm (39.4″) version suits a table of roughly 150–180 cm (59–71″); take the 120 cm (47.2″) bar for anything longer, or for a kitchen island. Hang it so the underside of the bar sits about 75–90 cm (30–35″) above the tabletop — high enough to see across, low enough that the stone, not the bulb, is what you notice.

• Two ceiling fixings — the bar hangs from a canopy at each end, so you need a fixing at both rather than one in the middle.
• Bulbs are separate — the fixture takes G9 bulbs, so brightness and warmth are your choice.
• Rated IP20 — that covers solid objects only and carries no moisture protection, so keep it to dry indoor rooms.
• Natural stone varies — every globe is cut from alabaster, and the veining on yours will be its own rather than the pattern in the photograph.
