Two shapes of stone on one body. A round plate sits flat to the wall, a short arm carries a rounded metal baton clear of it, and a single piece of alabaster stands on top — either a scalloped cup with a petalled rim or a plain globe. Unlit, the stone is chalk white with grey and amber veining drifting under the surface. Switched on, the light comes through the material rather than off it: the cup is open at the top and throws a warm wash up the wall, while the globe glows evenly all round. Neither is big — 31 cm (12.2″) tall as the cup, 30 cm (11.8″) as the globe, and no more than 13 cm (5.1″) across — so a pair flanks a headboard or a mirror without crowding it.
What makes it work
-
Alabaster lit from inside — the bulb sits within the shade, so what you read is glowing stone rather than a bare lamp, and every shade is cut from a natural block with its own veining.
-
Two shades, two kinds of light — the open cup pushes a warm wash upward; the closed globe gives a soft, even ball of light. The body and the finishes are the same on both.
-
Ordinary bulbs, small footprint — 13 cm (5.1″) at its widest, on a standard E12 or G9 socket you can re-lamp anywhere.
Before you order
Alabaster is quarried stone: the veining, the tone and the warmth of the glow will be particular to your piece, so read the photographs as the character rather than the exact pattern. The socket follows the shade — the cup takes an E12 candle cap, the globe a G9 capsule — and neither ships with a bulb, so buy one to match before fitting day. The rating is IP20, which carries no protection against moisture at all, so this belongs on a dry wall in a bedroom, a hallway or a living room, not above a basin or inside a shower room.

Installation
Wiring is permanent: the round plate covers a wall box and the lamp runs from your room switch, with no plug and no cord. Beside a bed, the centre of the shade usually lands around 150 cm (59″) from the floor; along a hallway, 165 to 175 cm (65 to 69″) keeps the light above eye level. Nothing inside the fixture dims, so whether it dims at all rests on the bulb you fit and the wall dimmer behind it. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic wall wiring — it's a straightforward job.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the two options?
The shade. One is a scalloped cup, open at the top, 31 cm (12.2″) tall on an E12 socket; the other is a closed globe, 30 cm (11.8″) tall on a G9 socket. The body and the wall plate are identical.
Are bulbs included?
No. Fit an E12 candle bulb in the cup version or a G9 capsule in the globe — both are stocked by any lighting shop.
Will my shade look like the photographs?
Close, not identical. Alabaster is quarried, so the veining and the depth of the amber in the glow belong to your piece alone.
Can it go in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which carries no protection against moisture, so keep it to dry indoor walls.
