Every clip-on book light has the same flaw — it lights a bright patch and leaves the rest of the page in shadow, and it lights the room while it is at it.
This one lies flat on the paper instead. A thin clear panel is edge-lit along its spine by a slim black bar, and the whole sheet glows evenly across the page beneath it. You read through it. Turn a page, slide the panel over, keep going. Because the light is held between the panel and the paper, almost none of it escapes upward, so the person next to you stays asleep. Closed inside the book it works as the bookmark.
