Long-Drop Dome Pendant Light, Alabaster and Brass, E26/E27 Base

An alabaster dome pendant, ∅20 cm (7.9″) across, on 200 cm (78.7″) of black braided cord. The cord takes up at the canopy rather than being cut, so you set the height when you fit it. That suits a stairwell, a double-height entrance hall, a kitchen island, a dining table or a bedside.

What makes it work

• 200 cm (78.7″) of cord — the drop a stairwell or a tall entrance hall needs, taken up at the canopy for anything lower.
• Alabaster through the whole fixture — the ∅20 cm (7.9″) dome and the slim stem above it are both cut from natural stone, so the veining lights through from the inside.
• Open underside — light pools straight down onto the table, island or floor below rather than washing the ceiling.
• Brushed brass detailing — a brass disc at each end of the stem, a brass set screw and a round brass ceiling canopy.

Worth knowing before it goes up

It is a fixed ceiling fitting wired into the mains: no plug, no inline switch, so it needs a ceiling point rather than a socket. The E26/E27 fitting takes one standard screw bulb, supplied separately, which leaves the warmth and the output to you — a warm-white filament lamp brings out the veining, a brighter lamp pushes more light down through the open dome. Over a table or an island, sit the base of the shade 75–90 cm (30–35″) above the surface; in a stairwell the full 200 cm (78.7″) is the point.

Set the drop before you fix the canopy — the cord is adjusted there, not cut at the shade. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.

Can I shorten the drop?
Yes. The 200 cm (78.7″) cord is taken up at the canopy, so it comes down to bedside or worktop height and keeps its full length for a stairwell.

Are bulbs included?
No. The socket is a standard E26 or E27 screw fitting and bulbs are supplied separately.

Can it hang in a bathroom?
No. It is an IP20 fitting with no moisture protection at all, so it belongs in indoor, dry locations.

Will the alabaster look like the photographs?
The tone will, the pattern will not. Every dome is cut from natural stone, so the veining that lights up is unique to yours.
