Microcement Pendant Light, Raw Cement Shade, Gold E14 Fitting, Braided Cord

Cast in a mould, air-dried, then released by hand, this microcement shade keeps its surface deliberately raw — open pores, faint tool marks, and soft ridges along the edges where the mould let go. A warm gold brass E14 fitting links the shade to a braided cord above. The effect feels almost archaeological, as if the piece predates the room it hangs in: raw material, warm light, and complete restraint. You can choose from four distinct silhouettes — a wide fluted dome, a wide flat disc, a slim tall cylinder, and a compact bowl.

Microcement texture is intentional

Microcement shades are cast in moulds and left to air-dry rather than kiln-fired. As they dry, natural pores form across the surface, and where the mould releases, faint marks can remain at the rim. The grain, the pores, and the slight irregularity at the edge are deliberate expressions of the material — they are what give each shade its raw, hand-made presence. They are not flaws.

Cluster them at different drop heights

Hang Models A, B, and C together at staggered heights — the wide disc (B) highest, the dome (A) mid-drop, and the slim cylinder (C) lowest — for a sculptural composition that works beautifully above a dining table, especially in rooms with exposed ceilings or a wabi-sabi feel.

Bulb and light source

Takes an E14 (small screw) bulb, which is not included. It works with E14 LED and Edison filament candle or globe bulbs. We recommend a warm-white E14 LED at 2700–3000 K — the amber tone complements the raw cement grey and gold brass, casting a soft pool of light that brings out the shadow and texture of the surface. A 4–6W E14 LED suits the compact scale of all four models. An Edison filament candle or globe bulb looks especially good in Model C, where the bulb is partly visible at the open base.

Frequently asked questions

There are pores and edge marks on my shade — is something wrong?
No. These are defining traits of microcement, not defects. The shade is formed in a mould and air-dried rather than kiln-fired, so as it dries, escaping gases create natural pores across the surface, and faint marks can remain at the rim where the mould releases. Both the porous texture and the demould marks are inherent to how the piece is made and give the shade its raw, artisanal character. They can't and shouldn't be repaired.

Which model is best over a dining table?
Model B (Wide Disc, ∅ 25 cm) spreads the widest pool of downward light and works well as a single pendant over a small round or two-seat table. For a four-to-six-seat table, cluster three pendants — for example A + B + C at staggered heights — to cover the full length and add depth. Model A (Fluted Dome) is the most versatile single pendant for a kitchen island or counter.

Can I clean the cement shade?
Dust it with a soft dry brush or low-pressure compressed air. Don't use damp cloths, water, or cleaning solutions on the cement — it can absorb liquid and stain permanently. Wipe the gold brass fitting with a dry microfibre cloth, and avoid anything abrasive against the cement, which would damage the texture. The shade is not waterproof and shouldn't go in bathrooms or kitchens where steam or water contact is likely.
