A tall room has a stretch of air nobody uses. Hang this pendant into it and the empty height becomes the thing you look at. Folded paper, painted by hand, hanging as one long column. Switched on, the colour warms from the inside.

Four faceted paper modules stacked into one column

  • Faceted form — Each module is a multi-sided paper polyhedron that narrows to a point where it meets the next.
  • Painted and raw paper together — Solid blocks of colour sit alongside panels left in the paper's natural cream, fibre and fold marks showing.
  • Light that settles in one place — Lit from within, the glow gathers in one or two modules while the rest read as flat colour.
  • Weight at the base — The lowest module carries the darkest facets, so the column settles into the room rather than floating.

Folded and painted by hand, panel by panel

Every panel starts as a sheet of rice paper, folded into shape and painted by hand. Brush-stroke marks and softness along the fold lines come with that process. They are characteristic of the work, not a flaw. Left unpainted, the paper carries light through warm rather than stark.

Fit and placement

This pendant is hardwired, so have a qualified electrician make the ceiling connection. Keep the shade at least 30 cm (12″) clear of curtains, drapes and other paper surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an incandescent or Edison-style bulb?
No. Rice paper is heat-sensitive, and incandescent, halogen and filament bulbs run hot enough to discolour or scorch it. Fit a warm-white LED at the base and wattage given in the specifications; 2700K keeps the paper's own tones.

How much ceiling height does it need?
Allow at least 2.1 m (7 ft) between the bottom of the fixture and the floor. With the column height given in the specifications, that puts it in a room of roughly 3.7–4.3 m (12–14 ft).

How do I clean it, and what if a panel tears?
Dust with a soft dry brush only — no water, no cleaners, and no microfibre, whose fibres catch on the paper. If a panel tears, write to us with your order number; single panels can be replaced rather than the whole fixture.
