Tiered Semi-Flush Chandelier, Alabaster, Brass Frame

Three tiers of alabaster slabs, each overlapping the next and pinned to a brass frame with visible studs, build a drum 60 cm (23.6″) across, with a smaller cluster of stone hanging under the centre. It fixes close to the ceiling on a short rigid stem rather than a chain or a cord, so the fixture occupies 70 cm (27.6″) below the ceiling in total — chandelier scale for a dining room or an entrance hall, without the height a chain-hung fixture demands. Unlit, it is pale warm stone against brass. Lit, the light comes through the slabs rather than past them, and each one takes it slightly differently, because no two pieces of alabaster carry the same veining.

What makes it work

• Natural alabaster, cut in slabs — every panel is real stone, so the veining and the way each one holds the light belong to your fixture alone.
• Brass frame, studs and hub — the slabs are pinned to a brass armature, and the underside carries the same brass plate and radial arms rather than a blank cover.
• Semi-flush mount — a short rigid stem holds it close to the ceiling, so it suits rooms that cannot take a long drop.

Before you order

• The drop is fixed. The stem is short and rigid: the fixture takes up 70 cm (27.6″) below the ceiling and cannot be lengthened or shortened.
• Bulbs are not included. The fitting takes a G9 base, so you choose the output and the colour temperature.
• Alabaster varies. Colour, veining and translucency change slab to slab, so the fixture will not match the photographs exactly. That is the stone, not a fault.
• Dry indoor rooms only. It is rated IP20, which carries no moisture protection at all — keep it clear of bathrooms, wet rooms and steam.

This is a hardwired fixture. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.
