Two-Tier Ring Chandelier, Alabaster, Matte Black, 85 cm

Two rings of matte black metal, stacked and offset, carry a circle of curved alabaster shades that glow from the inside out. At 85 cm (33.5″) across it holds the space above a dining table without the clutter of a traditional multi-arm chandelier, and the stone does the real work: milky white alabaster with soft grey clouding, thick enough to turn a bright LED into a warm, even wash. A slim brass collar at the stem is the only bright note against the black frame, and the body stands 50 cm (19.7″) deep from the top ring to the bottom of the lower shades.

Alabaster is never twice the same

Alabaster is quarried stone, not moulded glass. Colour and veining shift from panel to panel and from the photographs, and the warmth of the glow shifts a little with them. That variation is the material doing exactly what it should.

Choosing your light colour

Order it in Warm Light for the amber-leaning glow that suits a dining room in the evening, or Cool Light for a whiter output that keeps the alabaster looking crisp in a room with plenty of daylight. Both run from the same integrated LED on the same 110–240 V supply, and the choice is set when you order, so pick for the room you are lighting.

Installation

It hardwires to a ceiling point and hangs from a round canopy on a short chain and a rigid stem, so the drop stays fixed rather than swinging. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.

How much room does it need?
It spans 85 cm (33.5″), and the body is 50 cm (19.7″) deep before the chain and stem are added above it. Over a dining table, leave 76 to 91 cm (30 to 36″) between the tabletop and the bottom of the fixture.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?
No. The integrated LED module runs on a standard on/off circuit and is not built for a wall dimmer, so wire it to a normal switched supply.

Do I need to buy bulbs?
No. The LED is integrated into the frame, so the chandelier lights the moment it is wired in.

Can it go in a bathroom or a covered porch?
No. It is rated IP20, which carries no protection against moisture, so keep it to dry indoor rooms.
