Three discs of alabaster, each a little wider than the one above it, stack beneath a round brass ceiling plate and hold themselves apart on short brass standoffs. The light sits hidden between the tiers, so what reaches the room has already passed through stone — warm, soft-edged, and marked with the cloudy veining that makes every piece of alabaster its own. At 19 cm (7.5″) deep it stays tight to the ceiling, close enough for a hallway or a bedroom with ordinary head height, and wide enough at 30 or 40 cm (11.8 or 15.7″) to hold the centre of a room.

Choosing warm or cool light
Each fixture is built with one fixed LED colour, chosen when you order. Warm light brings out the honey in the brass and the amber in the stone, which suits bedrooms and hallways in the evening. Cool light keeps the alabaster nearer true white and reads cleaner over a kitchen or a work surface. The LED is not built for a standard wall dimmer, so choose the colour that fits the room and keep the switch simple.
Installation
This is a hardwired fitting. It mounts straight onto a ceiling box with no chain, rod or cord, and it needs no clearance below. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic ceiling wiring — it's a straightforward job.
