Ring Ceiling Light for Living Room, Flush Brass Circle

A flush ceiling light usually means a plain disc, because there is nowhere for a fitting to go once it is pressed against the plaster.

This one finds room by drawing a second circle. An open metal ring sits offset around a lit disc, so from below there are two overlapping curves rather than one flat plate — geometry instead of a lid. The disc gives an even, diffused wash across the whole room, and the ring reads as a drawn line on the ceiling whether the light is on or off. Gold, black or white, in two diameters.

A lit disc held offset inside an open metal ring

• Two circles, not one: the offset ring turns a flush fitting into a composition you can see from below
• Even diffused wash: the disc lights a whole room rather than pooling on the floor beneath it
• Reads unlit: the ring is a drawn line on the ceiling by daylight as well as at night
• Two tones: warm white for living space, cool white where the room is worked in

For ceilings that cannot take a pendant

Low ceilings, hallways, bedrooms where a hanging fitting would be in the way. This gives the room something to look at without taking any headroom.

Finish against ceiling colour

Gold warms a white ceiling and reads as jewellery. Black draws the geometry hard. White almost disappears, which is the right answer when the ceiling should stay quiet.

Size to the room

The smaller diameter suits a bedroom or a landing. The larger one is for a living room, where it has to hold a bigger ceiling on its own.

Frequently asked questions

Will it light a whole room?
Yes. The disc diffuses evenly rather than pooling — the larger size is intended for a living room.

How much headroom does it take?
It mounts flush, so almost none. That is the reason to choose it over a pendant.

Which finish for a white ceiling?
Gold if you want it noticed, white if you do not, black for the sharpest outline.
