A pressed fish-scale glass drum on a solid walnut block — the shade tilts and the arm swings, so you can aim the light at a page. Pick Plug-In at checkout and no wiring is needed — the cord runs to any socket; Hardwired leaves no cord on show. Suits bedsides, reading chairs, hallways and home offices.
What makes it work
-
Pressed fish-scale glass — a chevron relief in vertical columns under a scalloped saw-tooth edge, so the light breaks across the shade instead of leaving one flat glow.
-
An arm that moves — a knuckle joint at the shade tilts the glass and a collar at the block swings the whole arm, aiming light down at a book or out along the wall.
-
Walnut and satin brass — a solid walnut wall block with the end grain showing, brass thumbscrews and a knurled lamp holder with a ribbed collar.
Choosing your version
Glass colour. Green reads deep bottle green unlit and lifts to bright olive in the columns in front of the bulb, so the shade changes as you walk past it. Clear stays colourless by day and warms to amber-gold under a lit bulb.
Power source. Plug-In brings a slim black cord out of the underside of the walnut block and down the wall to a socket, and it works with a dimmer switch, sold separately. Hardwired connects behind the block, so no cord shows.
Before you fit it
The bulb is separate: a standard E26/E27 screw fitting on AC 110–240 V takes LED, incandescent or fluorescent, so the warmth and the output are yours to choose. The drum is open at the foot, so light falls downward onto a page rather than washing the whole wall. There is a short assembly step out of the box — backplate first, then the walnut block, then the arm and shade, with the brass thumbscrews finger-tight. Beside a bed the block usually sits 120–150 cm (47–59″) off the floor, which puts the shade just above shoulder height when you sit up. Rated IP20, it belongs in dry indoor rooms. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic wall wiring — it's a straightforward job.

Frequently asked questions
Does it come with a bulb?
No. The holder takes a standard E26/E27 screw bulb, so you can fit LED, incandescent or fluorescent and pick the warmth yourself.
Plug-in or hardwired — which should I choose?
Plug-In ships with the cord already run through the walnut block, so it goes on any wall near a socket. Hardwired ships without a cord and connects behind the block for a clean wall. You choose at checkout.
Can I aim the light?
Yes. The shade tilts on its knuckle joint and the arm swings where it meets the block, so you can point it down at a book or out along the wall.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which carries no moisture protection at all — keep it to dry indoor rooms.
