What makes it work
Before you order
At 32 cm (12.6″) this is an accent sconce, roughly a third the height of a standard vanity mirror, and it is at its best in pairs rather than alone on a wide wall. It is hardwired, with no cord and no inline switch, so it needs an outlet box behind it. Alabaster is quarried, so your shade will carry a tone and a veining of its own.
Installation
The band screws to a round plate that covers a standard outlet box. Decide the orientation before you set the box — the plate follows the fixture. Flanking a mirror, wall lights usually sit 152–165 cm (60–65″) off the floor; beside a bed, 152–160 cm (60–63″) drops the glow onto the page rather than into your eyes. Allow for the 10 cm (3.9″) projection beside a door frame or a mirror edge, and fix into a stud or a rated wall anchor rather than plasterboard alone. Have an electrician make the connection if you'd rather not touch the wiring, or fit it yourself if you're comfortable with basic household wiring — it's a straightforward job.

Can I mount it horizontally?
Yes. The same wall plate takes the fixture either way — a column beside a door, or a low bar above a mirror.
Which finish should I choose?
All three carry the same white alabaster shade and only the band changes: brass warms the stone, chrome keeps it cool and crisp, black draws the sharpest outline.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, for indoor, dry locations only, so keep it away from steam and splashes.
Will my shade look exactly like the photographs?
The tone will be close, the veining will not. Alabaster is quarried stone, so each shade is cut with markings of its own.
